Asthma UK BSL DVD

Asthma UK DVD

TRI UK was recently asked by Asthma UK to translate their Frequently Asked Questions into British Sign Language. We filmed and produced a signed DVD; launched on the 12th of May. The DVD was presented by Radha Manjeshwar and it was BSL moderated by Helen Westaway.

This DVD will enable over 20,000 BSL-using asthma sufferers to receive more accessible information as part of Asthma UK's commitment to ensuring equal access to information regarding health for the deaf community. This information and video clips are available on disk or can be viewed on the Asthma UK website.

"The move has also been praised by the British Deaf Association (BDA). Francis Murphy, BDA Chair, said: 'Deaf people have a right to equal access to health information. The BSL resources Asthma UK has introduced go some way to addressing the imbalance in access to healthcare and the BDA encourages similar organisations not to overlook BSL in their commitment to diversity and access to products, services and opportunities.'"
